Kolkata, July 13: All matches in the forthcoming triangular one-day series featuring India, South Africa and hosts Sri Lanka will be played in Colombo, the Board of Control for Cricket in India said on Thursday.
The first two matches to be held at the Ranasinghe Premadasa Stadium will be day-nighters, while next two ODIs will be played at the Sinhalese Sports Club ground. The Premadasa Stadium will once again host the last two group league matches and the final.
The tournament is scheduled from August 14 to 29.
Dambula was originally scheduled to host first four games, but the in-fighting between two rival groups in the upcoming Sri Lanka Cricket elections called for a change in venue. BCCI secretary Niranjan Shah told this newspaper that the cricket board has agreed to the change.
"We have already given our consent to the revised itinerary," Mr Shah said.
Incidentally, Mohan De Silva, the opposition candidate who is running for SLC president against interim head Jayantha Dharmadasa said on Tuesday that Dambulla would be reinstated as a venue if he wins the elections.
But further changes have now been ruled out.
Meanwhile, Mr Shah said that the Indian team for the tri-series will be selected in Mumbai on July 20. Skipper Rahul Dravid will also attend the meeting. The team will leave for Colombo on August 10.
Regarding Sachin Tendulkar’s availability, the secretary said that the board was awaiting a fitness report from team physio John Gloster who would be in Mumbai on Friday.
