Hamilton, March 19: Two wickets on a day the Indian batsmen made merry, and Kiwi quick Chris Martin is a satisfied man. Having made the side after a bit of a selection tussle between captain Daniel Vettori and the selection panel, Martin proved his detractors wrong by bending his back to bowl a decent spell on Thursday.
"If you bowl a good line and a good length, they (the batsmen) respect you. To go at 3-an-over on that wicket was a good achievement. Perhaps if we would have held our catches, the day would have been more even," Martin said after the first day’s play.
The fast bowler said he did not let the controversy — the selectors did not want him while Vettori insisted on his inclusion — surrounding his selection get to him. "I might have got the odd word from friends and families, but my main focus was to not let the talk in the media into the Test. It has helped me relax, helped me get into groove, yeah I managed to deal with kind of stuff pretty easily," Martin said.
