Double delight for in-form Gilly

Adam Gilchrist had two reasons to be happy on Monday. The win over Chennai was special as it also came on the day of his wedding anniversary. The entire Chargers unit joined Gilchrist and his family in celebration, but only after the team reached Johannesburg. There was hardly no time for the Chargers to open the bubbly in Durban as they had a flight to catch.

Gilchrist was at his humorous best in the press conference after the match. Speaking on retirement and life beyond the game Gilly kept the sparse attendance in good humour. The team management decided to give a day off for the hard working players. The players were off to Sun City on Tuesday to celebrate their success. It came at the right time as they were denied an outing by gusting winds in Cape Town where their scheduled visit to the Table Mountains was called off in the last moment.

Priety Zinta’s fan club is swelling by the day. Posters of the Kings XI owner are nearly outselling the cricketers here. In a recent poll conducted by a FM station she comfortably overtook Shilpa Shetty another co-owner in the IPL. Priety did no damage to her brand equity in South Africa as she played tennis ball cricket with guests and the management of the Kings XI in the hotel lawn in Durban.

"I hate it when people call my team Bollywood XI. There is much more to us than that, we have come here to win," said Priety who added her favourite cricketer in the IPL was without doubt Yuvraj but her all time favourite would always be Sachin Tendulkar.

The Pathan brothers are having a blast. Both Irfan and Yusuf played key roles in their respective sides winning their first match. But Irfan is nonetheless happy for his brother.

"It feels great as it makes my family happy. Our sister has been a big supporter and it gives us great contentment when we see her happy face.

"Yusuf is a natural hitter of the ball. Many think, he hits without thinking but let me tell you he plans his hits well and he has been consistent," said Irfan before packing his bags for the next match. — V. Balaji
