Lucknow, May 26: The spectacular success of the Deccan Chargers in the second season of the Indian Premier League has wiped out all his tiredness and left-arm fast bowler R.P. Singh is eager to take the field for the world T20 championship that begins in England on June 5.
Singh arrived in Lucknow on Tuesday for a brief stopover before he sets off for England. "All the players are in good form and also in the right frame of mind. We will give our best at the T20 World Cup," he said.
Singh, who belongs to Rae Bareli district and has his cricketing roots in Lucknow, was elated at winning the ‘Purple Cap’ for being the highest wicket-taker in IPL-2.
"We are going to win the T20 World Cup too — wait and see," he said.
"In fact, the IPL matches have provided us an opportunity for match practice. The BCCI used to organise training camps before every major tournament, but this time we have had our share of practice. The IPL has put us into match-playing mode," he said.
Badgered with questions about ending his bachelorhood, a shy Singh admitted, "Yes, marriage is on the cards and the search for a suitable partner is on."
