Nottingham, June 18: West Indies fast bowler Fidel Edwards is a doubtful starter for the second semifinal against the West Indies after failing to recover from a back injury.
The fiery paceman has been diagnosed with an irritation of the nerve root in his lower back and did not take part in the team’s practice session on the eve of the game.
Captain Chris Gayle said it would be a setback if Edwards did not recover in time. "He has been good for us throughout the tournament. He’s the sort of bowler who can actually win you games and pick up crucial wickets at crucial times. Sometimes he can go for runs, but he’s a wicket-taker and can change games. He’d be missed," Gayle said.
