London, June 20: Pakistan cricket plunged into the pits on March 17, 2007, when they lost their match to Ireland to be dumped out of the ODI World Cup in the first round. The next day, their coach Bob Woolmer died under mysterious circumstances with the murder theory being in the air for a long time. Worse, a team member was suspected to be behind the ‘murder.’
Two years hence, the team stands one step away from the top spot in world cricket, albeit in T20, and captain Younis Khan said they would like to win the World Cup for their deceased coach.
"If we win tomorrow, we will dedicate the World Cup to Bob," Younis said on Saturday, the eve of the final.
Younis spoke highly of the Englishman who coached Pakistan from 2004 until his demise.
"He helped me immensely when he was the coach and I miss him terribly. He backed me when I was out of the side in 2004 and 2005. He also helped the other players, the ones in domestic cricket too," he said.
