New Delhi, June 23: Transit visa troubles have grounded three West Indies-bound Indian cricketers, barely three days before the start of the four-match one-day series between the two teams.
Batsmen Murali Vijay and Subramaniam Badrinath, both from Tamil Nadu, and uncapped all-rounder Abhishek Nayar from Mumbai were supposed to reach the Caribbean islands via London on Tuesday, but were still awaiting their transit visa for Britain.
While Nayar and Vijay received their travel documents later in the day, Badrinath was still awaiting his.
The delay in the departure has left the trio with little time to get used to the conditions in the Caribbean before the opening match of the series in Kingston, Jamaica, on Friday.
Nayar and Vijay are expected to leave for London late on Tuesday night and will reach Jamaica only on Wednesday evening. Badrinath will leave on Wednesday.
Their teammates, part of the 16-member team led by Mahendra Singh Dhoni, are already in the West Indies. India play their second to fourth ODIs on June 28 (at Kingston), July 3 and 5 (both at Gros Islet, St. Lucia).
