Chennai, July 24: Matthew Hayden’s key task area with the Chennai Super Kings will no longer be just be thrashing the new ball around. The Queenslander, who is in the city for a promotional campaign for his IPL franchise could well double up as consultant for a cricket academy, CSK are planning to launch.
Speaking to this paper Kasi Viswanathan, senior member of the CSK management said: Hayden will hold discussions with N. Srinivasan on the proposal of the academy.
"It is very much in the initial stages. We have been talking with Hayden about this. He will also watch some of the ongoing TNCA senior division games. He will basically scout for talent and guide those who make the cut."
Meanwhile, Hayden confirmed that he was referring to the CSK IPL Academy and not what was reported in certain sections of the media.
"I have been discussing with them (India Cements) about the academy. We will also have Stephen Fleming and Rahul Dravid playing key roles. I am to meet up with Srinivasan shortly to work out the details. It will be a full fledged centre like the one in Brisbane. The ultimate goal is to find players who have the potentials to play for India and nurture their skills," Hayden said.
