New Delhi, July 27: Pakistan pace legend Wasim Akram inaugurated the Gatorade Centre for Pace Excellence — an academy for pace hopefuls — in the capital on Monday.
Akram, along with fast bowling bio-mechanics expert T.A. Sekar, will coach nine youngsters selected from over 2,000 schools and colleges across India at an eight-day camp beginning Monday.
The first batch at the academy consists among others Delhi lad Vikas Tokas, who was recently picked by Rajasthan Ranji side, and Sukhvir Singh from Chandigarh, who has been called to play in the academy team of one of the country sides in England.
At the launch, Akram said: "This initiative inculcates the culture of sports science in the players at a young age."
