New Delhi, Aug. 21: The Delhi and Districts Cricket Association is keen to meet skipper Virender Sehwag as early as possible after the opener sparked off the players’ revolt in the Delhi Ranji team. Sehwag has spoken out against the ‘nepotism and corruption’ of the sports committee — which was re-elected unopposed on Thursday.
DDCA president Arun Jaitley is expected to meet Sehwag on August 26 or 27, according to general secretary Sneh Bansal. "We want to sit down and sort out the matter with Sehwag as soon as possible. He had told us that he will be returning to Delhi on 26th or 27th, but he might return a day earlier as well," Bansal told this newspaper.
However, it is learnt that Sehwag might extend his stay in Kochi till the end of this month for ayurvedic treatment of his injured shoulder. The Delhi skipper is currently in Kochi, along with India teammates M.S. Dhoni, Ishant and Praveen Kumar, shooting for an advertisement.
"We can only think about a course ahead after meeting Sehwag and hearing out his grievances. There is no point in the executive committee sitting down to meet Jaitley before that," Bansal added.
Sehwag has threatened to quit the Delhi team, but has been told to keep his decision on hold till a meeting with Jaitley. The Indian opener has received support from his senior Delhi teammates as well.
