Bengaluru, Aug. 27: Yuvraj Singh has been around for more than nine years, is the vice-captain of the team and has generally been there and done that. On many occasions the left-hander has come across as being aggressive and brusque even, but his demeanour on Thursday rivaled that of any youngster having just broken into the team.
On the first day of the preparatory camp, Yuvraj showed how keen he was to get back to action after a six-week period of inactivity by affording himself a moment's prayer as he touched the ground before entering the M. Chinnaswamy stadium. It was a full reflection of every player's frame of mind - rejuvenated and eager to get back to cricket.
After a fairly lengthy break from cricket, the Indian cricketers reported in full strength for the four-day camp. Restraining themself from any rigorous training, they were mostly engaged in a team meeting in the morning. By the time the players arrived at the National Cricket Academy in the afternoon they looked ready for the sessions ahead.
Their training was restricted to just indoor sessions, where they underwent fitness sessions in the gym. Meanwhile, coach Gary Kirsten took the opportunity to reassess the fitness of the players.
