Bengaluru, Aug. 26: It's been close to three months since dashing opening batsman Virender Sehwag has got a chance to do what he loves the most — smash the living daylights of the cherry.
Following an operation on his injured shoulder in June, Sehwag is making a slow and cautious return. He said that he would resume batting practice in the first week of September
Not being part of the Champions Trophy is a blow but for Sehwag, it is the recovery that is of utmost importance.
"I'm feeling better now. I am planning to pick up the bat and resume full training in the first week of September. Now I am playing just 10-15 balls every day," said Sehwag, who is currently undergoing a rehabilitation programme at the National Cricket Academy here.
Sehwag, however, will not be part of the conditioning camp that is set to begin on Thursday.
"I haven’t attempted at playing the cut or pull shot during in the past two months. These are the shots that will strain my shoulder, so I have restrained from playing them," he added.
