KOLKATA, Aug. 26: Former India middle-order batsman Sandeep Patil became the latest applicant for the post of Kolkata Knight Riders coach, as they prepare for the third edition of Indian Premier League. According to a member of the KKR management, Patil couldn’t be contacted earlier because of his commitments for the All Star XI versus India game in Interlaken, Switzerland.
"He (Patil) was always on our list. In fact, he couldn’t be present for the interview earlier since he was busy with the game against All Star XI in Switzerland. Nonetheless, he’ll be present for the second round of interviews," the KKR source informed.
Along with Patil, Lalchand Rajput, Chandrakant Pandit and W.V. Raman represent the Indian contingent who are in the running for the KKR coaching post. With former Pakistan skipper Wasim Akram likely to join the squad as a consultant, Richard Pybus appears to be the first choice as John Buchanan’s replacement.
