Johannesburg, Sept. 22: "I never take any team lightly, anytime, especially when it is the first match of a tournament. We're 11.. they're 11 and we're equal in that sense," said stand-in Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi ahead of their Group A opening match of the 2009 Champions Trophy against the West Indies here on Wednesday.
"We can't think that we can win easily. They all have their days," he added after the squad drilled at the Wanderers, venue of Wednesday's game against opposition weakened by a dispute between the Windies cricket control board and its A list of players.
Regular captain Younis Khan will miss the match with a fractured right hand little finger and Afridi said Khan would most likely be back for the game against India on Saturday.
Clearly the focus is on the India game, despite whatever Afridi had to say. And it rankles that Pakistan have never beaten their sub-continental rivals in an ICC event - be it the World Cup, the Champions Trophy or even the T20 worlds, which they won earlier this year in England.
"India are a very balanced team. I enjoy playing them the most," he said.
