Johannesburg, Sept. 25: The West Indies face an uphill task of picking themselves up after their first loss against Pakistan, taking on the world champions Australia in a must-win tie to keep their hopes alive in the Champions Trophy here on Saturday.
Without their senior players, the second string West Indies face the defending champions, who are on a high after a 6-1 series win over England.
Batting has been the biggest cause of concern for the Caribbean boys, who were bundled out for a paltry 133 by Pakistan and if they will have to regroup their resource to post any serious threat to the Aussies.
However, the Windies will take pride from the fact that they shot out half of the Pakistan side while defending a meagre total and the onus will be on pacer Gavin Tonge — who bagged four wickets in the first match — to give them the early breakthroughs.
Australia, on the other hand, are on a high. Apart from the last match, Australia dominated the entire series against England. Ricky Ponting has been in peak form and he will hope to carry the momentum into the tournament. — PTI
