We will try to prove ourselves at home: Sachin

New Delhi, Oct. 8: Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar said on Sunday that consistency is the key to success.

"One has to play well every day, and the day you don’t do well, you are gone," said Tendulkar at a open media session ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy here on Sunday.

On his return to international cricket after a scorching ton in the recent Malaysia tri-series and the Challenger Trophy, Tendulkar offered the formula for his return to form.

"I play my game according to the team’s strategy.

"Everyone is not always in good form, so those in good form will have to make up for the others," he said.

The 33-year-old superstar said that good planning was necessary for the Champions Trophy.

"Every day we play a match with a different country, which is very challenging. New plans and strategy are required. If we win against one team we have to next think about the second opposition.

"The Champions Trophy is a big platform and we will try our best to prove ourselves.

"But playing on home ground will help us a lot as we know about the surface and atmosphere and we will also get support from the home crowd.

"As a team we need to put the right foot forward, gather momentum as early as possible, improve on game as notch," he added.

"Experiments should go on to a certain extent.

"There are five months to go for the World Cup and a lot of things can change during this time. We should be prudent and take one step at a time," he said.

On his role of mentor, Tendulkar calmly said, "I am a player and after spending so much time playing cricket it is nice to share your thoughts with the youngsters. But it is not a one-way traffic. I would also like to know what they feel for me."
