Bengaluru, Oct. 16: Cape Cobras were the first team to book their place in the super league stage of the Champions League T20 tournament. Having done that in winning both their group matches, the South African champions have gone missing since then.
Now after a week-long gap, the Cobras resume their title run when they take on the Victoria Bushrangers in the first match of Saturday’s double-header at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
As much as the contest will hold importance for both the teams, the home crowd will also be watching the outcome with keen interest.
A win for the Cape Cobras will push the Royal Challengers Bangalore out of the tournament and it will also mean that Andrew Puttick’s men move a step closer to sealing their place in the semifinals.
Nevertheless, it is expected to be a close one, with both the teams evenly matched.
It was at this very venue that Cobras’ J.P. Duminy smashed an unbeaten 99 that knocked the stuffing out of RCB while Victoria are also on a high after Thursday’s comprehensive win over the home team.
For the Cobras though, the form of Herschelle Gibbs is of concern with the South Africa opener having scored just 0 and 1 in the two matches.
