New Delhi, Oct. 30: Australia’s worries compounded on Friday with the news that spearhead Brett Lee will be flying back home after being laid low by an elbow injury which he sustained during the first ODI at Baroda.
The 32-year-old will return home to consult specialists, the team management said in a statement. "Brett’s elbow injury has not responded as well to treatment as we would have liked and therefore a decision has been made to send him home to consult with an elbow specialist," team physiotherapist Kevin Sims said.
"With an accurate diagnosis we can determine how best to manage the injury and give Brett the best chance of being available for selection at the beginning of the Australian summer," he added.
Lee took part in the training session at the Ferozeshah Kotla on Friday bowling from a shortened run up. "Lee is one of their main bowlers so definitely their bowling attack will be weakened. In the last game we did so well in his absence and we’ll hope to repeat that again tomorrow," M.S. Dhoni said.
Cricket Australia will name a replacement player in due course, the CA statement added.
