New Delhi, Oct. 29: Australian cricket legend Allan Border feels that the ongoing seven-match one-day international series between India and Australia will be a tight contest.

However, the former Aussie skipper was of the view that India have regained momentum with their comprehensive 99-run win in the second ODI at Nagpur on Wednesday.

"After thrashing Australia, India certainly has gained the momentum. But both teams are evenly powerful and I expect a close finish, probably a 4-3," Border, who is in the city as the brand ambassador of the Airtel Delhi Half Marathon, said on Thursday.

Border felt Australia’s continued injury woes only made things easier for India with the latest casualty being wicketkeeper Tim Paine, who has been ruled out for the rest of the series after he broke his finger during the Nagpur one-dayer.

"India will have a slight edge because they know the environment.

"And it is always difficult to deal with so many injuries while playing such a long series. It’s very important to keep the key players fit," he said.

He lavished praise on India captain Dhoni for his leadership qualities.

The 54-year-old believes that Sachin Tendulkar should cut down on his limited over appearances to prolong his Test career.

"I have high esteem for Tendulkar and his achievements in international cricket. But I think, it would be better for him to appear in fewer limited over matches, including ODIs," he said.
