Mumbai, Nov. 9: The D.Y. Patil Sports Stadium is a passionate creation. The ODI caravan has moved here for the final game of the seven-match India-Australia series and for those players who were not a part of the IPL final in 2008, Wednesday will be a unique experience.
The facilities look complete but there is much more on the cards according to owner, Vijay Patil. "The possibilities are endless. There is a lot more to offer with modern technology. We could even come up with popup screens in the future from where the spectators can watch a replay or order their snacks.
"The music systems are compact and state of the art, it does not hinder the view. The smart chair is another value addition we are trying to bring in. The idea is to make it more spectator friendly," said Vijay.
The first big game that the stadium hosted was the IPL final. Packed to capacity, it provided great atmosphere. "The IPL was a huge success but for us an international game is bigger. The venue can hold nearly 55,000 people and each one of them will be provided a national flag," explained Patil.
Right from the approach to the pavilion, every aspect of the venue is a blend of tradition and modernity.
