Hyderabad, Nov. 4: Injury-ravaged Australia received yet another jolt when coach Tim Nielsen announced that Moises Henriques was suffering from a hamstring injury and would miss the fifth one-dayer against India here on Thursday.
Later, a Cricket Australia release said that Henriques will be returning home with a hamstring injury. Victorian all-rounder Andrew McDonald and New South Wales fast bowler Burt Cockley will join the squad for the sixth ODI in Guwahati as replacements for Henriques and Peter Siddle, who has also returned home with stiffness in his left side.
Speaking on their injury woes in the series, the Australian coach said, "It (injuries) definitely affects the plans of any team and we are no different. And injuries are a bit uncertain too. From game to game, we have lost players to injuries. But, I am quite pleased to see the team bounce back from being 1-2 after the Delhi game."
Asked if the seven-match series was a taxing one, Nielsen said, "It is difficult but it’s the same for everyone. The schedule does put pressure on players but I feel a five-match series was probably right."
