Baroda, Nov. 4: Opener Shikhar Dhawan blasted his maiden first-class double-century as Delhi piled on 591 in the first innings against a weakened Baroda attack in their Ranji Trophy Super League Group B match here. Already missing Irfan Pathan, Baroda had to do without the services of Salim Veragi — their opening bowler who was called twice for a suspect action.
Resuming on his overnight 122, Dhawan went on to score 224 that included 23 fours and two sixes.
In reply, Baroda were 21/0 at stumps with openers Connor Williams batting on 9 and Satyajit Parab batting on 10.
At Pune, Abhishek Jhunjhunwala (95) made a welcome return to the official fold taking Bengal to 325 in the first innings in response to Maharashtra’s 179 in another Group B encounter with some help from teammate Manoj Tewari (88). Maharashtra were 46/0 at stumps.
In Meerut, Abhimanyu Mithun’s five-wicket haul put Karnataka in the driver’s seat against Uttar Pradesh at the end of the second day of their Group B match. Mithun (5/63) ran through the UP line-up to reduce the hosts to 214/8 at stumps after Karnataka added just 33 runs to their overnight score of 372/5.
In Delhi, Murali Vijay’s unbeaten half-century consolidated Tamil Nadu’s position as the side reached 150/2 after bundling out Railways for 327 on the second day of their Group A game at the Karnail Singh Stadium.
In Chandigarh, Mumbai were 244/7 after restricting Punjab to 259 on Day Two of their Group A match.
