Mumbai, Nov. 13: The visiting Sri Lanka team will head to Ahmedabad for the first Test with no match practice under their belt, after their warm-up tie against Board President’s XI here was abandoned without a ball being bowled.
The third and the final day of the match was called off due to unsuitable conditions at the Bandra-Kurla ground of the Mumbai Cricket Association. Umpires inspected the venue at 11.30 and called off play as the ground was still soggy after two days of rain. "The ground was very soft and the teams did not want to risk injury at the start of the season, so the match had been abandoned," said umpire Suresh Shastri.
As soon as the match was called off, Board President’s XI players quickly booked their tickets and were off home. The islanders for their part had an open net practice on the centre wicket.
Tillakaratne Dilshan, who had a minor sprain in his ankle, seemed to have recovered fully.
